Sam is a London-based film editor and assistant editor, cutting independent feature films and short form projects alongside assisting on major motion pictures.
Having trained at Bournemouth Film School, Sam began his career at visual effects studio Industrial Light & Magic, working his way up from production assistant to visual effects editor. This included a stint at Lucasfilm, coordinating visual effects within the cutting rooms on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Since leaving ILM to pursue a career in editorial, Sam has assisted established editors on features for Disney, Warner Bros, Universal, Amblin, Working Title, StudioCanal and Aardman, including Nick Park’s Early Man and Tom Hooper’s Cats.
Aside from assisting, Sam cuts short films, music videos and commercials and has recently picture locked his first feature film as editor, Atomen, an independent German-language drama directed by Kate Cragg and shot by Daniel Landin BSC. Short films he has edited have screened at Academy Award and BAFTA-qualifying festivals, including the Chicago International Film Festival, Encounters and Aesthetica, amongst others.
Sam is an associate member of the British Film Editors and has been selected for the BFI Network x BAFTA Crew scheme since 2016. He is always looking to build relationships with new collaborators and is open to all types of projects.
